Fire Jumped I-80 Freeway

SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - The Sacramento Fire Department reported that a fire broke out in the parking lot of the former Fry’s Electronics building at Northgate Boulevard and Tandy Drive in the early afternoon on Monday, June 17.

According to the fire department, overgrown vegetation in the lot caught fire and spread to the palm trees. The fire then jumped over the I-80 Freeway. Two to three acres burned on the north side of the freeway, and about a half acre burned on the north side.

The fire department reported that the fire took about an hour to put out, and as of 4:25 p.m. crews were still on scene mopping up.
